In addition 284 families in Ratmalana & 862 families in Moratuwa who reside in buffer zone have to be removed and resettled.

Relief Distribution

  1. Food relief provided during the 1st week.
  2. Death relief of Rs.15, 000/- to each dead person.
  3. Provision of a dry ration worth of Rs.375/- to each person during the next two weeks.
  4. A grant of Rs.2, 500/- for each family to buy kitchen    appliances.
  5. Providing a ration worth of Rs.375/- to each person.

   (This included a dry ration of Rs.175/- and a financial aid          worth of Rs.200/-)

  1. Transitional allowance of Rs.20,000/- for each family

                (Paid by 4 installments- 5,000/-)

  1. Food items, clothing and consumables were provided by various countries, institutions Non Governmental Organizations etc. for the families in the camps as well as outside the camps.

 

 

 

             Tsunami Housing Construction Programme

Three kinds of housing aids were provided under this programme.

                          1. Owner driven Programme-1
                          (Started on March 2005)

                          2. Owner Driven Programme -II (New)
(Started on August 2006)

                          3. Donor Driven Programme

                          2.       Owner Driven Programme -II (New)   (Rs.500, 000/- Grants.)
                         
                          In the revised Buffer zone –

            • Rs.250,000/- for purchasing lands
