Initial steps have been taken to Construct 85 houses each worth of Rs.250, 000 for the chosen families in Colombo District under “Diriya Piyasa†Samurdhi Housing Programme Rs.50, 000 for each house will be granted by the social Development Davison of Sri Lanka Samusdhi Authority and the balance will be granted by the diners.

Divisional Secretariats, Hanwella, Kesbewa, Homagama, Padukka, Ratmalana, Colombo, Kolonnawa,and Maharagama are chosen to implement this programme. 

Third place of the Western Province Inter Departmental competition of the National Productivity Awards for the year 2006 was won by the Colombo Districtt Secretariat.
