North East Irrigated Agricultural Project – NEIAP Objective: The project development objective is to help conflict affected communities in the North – East Province and adjoining areas to reestablish at least a subsistence level of production and basic community services, through assistance with jump starting agricultural and small-scale reconstruction activities, and to build their capacity for sustainable social and economic reintegration. NEIAP-1 Total Investment : Rs.456 Million Project Period : Year 2000 – Year 2005 2.North East Community Restoration and Development Project - NECORD Objective: The objective of the proposed Project is to contribute to the Government’s overall relief and rehabilitation program for the North East, by improving the living conditions and well-being of communities that have been affected by the conflict, particularly communities that contain significant proportions of internally displaced people. The project will be part of the Government’s overall relief and rehabilitation program for the North East, and will coordinate closely with projects and programs financed by the Government and other international and domestic agencies. The project’s scope will be the implementation of a range of complementary activities in the project area to ensure that the people living there, whether original occupants or people who have been resettled or relocated, experience a broad improvement in their livelihood and in their access to services, utilities and income-generating opportunities. Project Period : Year 2002 - Year 2007 June. Total Investment : Rs.369.38 Million. It would entail a cash grant paid in installments to vulnerable families to help reconstruct their homes. The intent is to help launch a housing program that would continue in ensuring years with alternate sources of finance. The program would be implemented in four phases over four years.
